Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Merry Manuel/Paul
Conrad". B/w, 8½x11. Paul Conrad (1924-2010), who was chief editorial
cartoonist for the "Los Angeles Times" from 1964-1993, has won three
Pulitzer Prizes (1964, 1971 and 1984) and numerous other awards for his keen
political observations. In 1973, Conrad was included on Richard Nixon's
"Enemies List". Ironically, he later held the Richard M. Nixon Chair at
Whittier College (1977-1978). Conrad's political cartoons were syndicated
five days a week by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate and appeared in newspapers
in the U.S. and abroad, and he is also known for his limited-edition bronze
sculptures of political leaders, which have been exhibited in a number of
museums and galleries. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine
