****The gals over at FitSugar recently wrote about Alicia's new book deal and her commitment to animal rights and environmental activism. And, the vegan diet she swears by--all plant based and high in protein--does sound pretty appealing. But is veganism really healthy?

Some swear that this diet does amazing things in the weight loss department. But, some health experts are still wary. Andrea Giancoli, registered dietitian and American Dietetic Association spokesperson, told the *New York Daily News *recently that a raw diet--or in this case, a vegan diet--could be dangerous. In short, the diet could set you up for a "nutrition shortfall," making you deficient in key vitamins and nutrients such as calcium, protein, Vitamin D, and protein. As usual, it's best to get your nutrition advice straight from your doc.

What do you think? Would you be interested in trying Alicia's "The Kind Diet" when it comes out next year? Any fans of the like-minded book Skinny Bitch (also a really interesting vegan diet plan)? Did going vegan help you lose weight?
