Bronson Alcott High School’s queen bee is on Bumble.
Alicia Silverstone has joined the popular dating app nearly three years after finalizing her divorce from Christopher Jarecki.
“I always thought it sounded so fascinating. It sounded like it opened up a lot of possibility for people and created hope,” the “Clueless” star, 44, told People Monday. “And I’ve heard tons of beautiful stories from people. I think it’s very much the norm now. And it makes sense. It’s kind of like going to a bar, but it’s more effective.”
She added, “It’s an adventure.”
Silverstone said that she has already found the app to be helpful since organically meeting romantic partners can be difficult.
“I just think it’s a great way for people to meet,” she explained. “You know, I think that it’s really nice that we have friends that can connect us. You can be set up by friends, you can be at a party and tell people, ‘Hey, do you know anyone?’ You can do things like that. I have experience where I’ll go to an in-person event and no one’s really engaged. They’re sort of in their phones, and it’s a bit discouraging.”
The actress continued, “Sometimes you do meet people out in the real world, and I certainly have, and it’s been wonderful, but I think that it’s just a really nice way for people to meet.”
As for how she conducts herself on her Bumble dates, Silverstone admitted to the mag that two glasses of wine often lead to “sexy time,” so she tries to refrain from booze.
“That’s why I don’t drink on dates. And if you don’t like them suddenly you like them because you’re drinking!” she said. “New rules: No alcohol until I already know I like you.”
Silverstone and Jarecki, 44, broke up in February 2018 after 13 years of marriage. She filed for divorce that May after reportedly being separated for two years. The exes, who married in June 2005, share 10-year-old son Bear.
